Sadiki Alumni Association
Founded in 1905, the Sadiki Alumni Association is among Tunisia’s oldest associations. It promotes culture, fellowship, and the preservation of Sadiki heritage.
Brief History
The founding meeting was held on December 3, 1905 with around seventy attendees. Ali Bach Hamba delivered the opening speech, aligning the mission with the vision of Sadiki’s founder Kheireddine Pasha. The association obtained its activity license on December 24, 1905. Initially cultural in French, it later introduced Arabic lectures with scholars such as Tahar Ben Achour and Mohamed El Khadhra Houssine. Activities were affected by the exile of national leaders in 1912 and halted during WWI, then resumed. In 1920 it published the Sadiki Review and created a literary club; in November 1929 Aboul-Qacem Echebbi delivered his famous lecture on poetic imagination in Arabic there. In 1932 the association hosted the student youth movement. Its activities slowed after independence and were revived in April 1987 by alumni including Fouad Mebazaa.
